Silybon Suspension (Silymarin)

• Composition :
  Each tablet contains Silymarin 70mg & 140 mg. Each 5 ml of suspension contains 35mg of silymarin.
• Indications :
  Indicated for supportive treatment in chronic liver disease and cirrhosis.
• Pharmacodynamics :
  It acts by stabilizing liver cell membranes, thereby reducing their permeability to certain toxic substances. This stabilization may occur as the result of competitive inhibition between Silymarin and hepatotoxic substances at the level of the cell membrane.
• Dosage and administration :
  Adults: 1 tablet 2-3 times daily. Children >12 years -10 ml of the suspension 3-4 times daily. Children > 5 years: 5–6 mg/kg/day.
• Contraindications :
  The use of this product is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. use in children below 5 years of age.
• Precautions and warnings :
  Caution is needed in patients with history of hepatic encephalopathy (confusion, altered level of consciousness and coma as a result of liver failure).
• Use in pregnancy, lactation & pediatrics :
  There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in human pregnancy, lactation and children. Not recommended in pregnancy and lactation. Not recommended in children less than 5 years.
• Drug interactions :
  the antiarrhythmic effect of amiodarone can be increased.
• Adverse reactions :
  Silymarin is normally well-tolerated, even when the physician intends to administer it over long periods of time. At high doses, a slight laxative and diuretic effect may be observed.
